Sustainable composite materials for EMI shielding and radio channels and antennas for physical layer security.

nPEG (nanoPhotonics and Electromagnetics Group)

Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DEI) – Politecnico di Bari, Italy

The nanoPhotonics and Electromagnetics Group (nPEG) of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DEI), Politecnico di Bari, works on the modelling, design, fabrication and characterization of electromagnetic devices from microwave to optical frequencies – from integrated photonic circuits and metasurfaces to antennas, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces and EMI shielding.

Founded by Prof. Antonella D’Orazio, the group has more than twenty years of experience and brings together professors, researchers and PhD students, working with universities, research centres and companies in Italy and abroad.

Laboratories & facilities

Optical bench for IR–VIS measurements

Optical laboratory

Tunable lasers, optical spectrum analyzers, IR–VIS optical bench, spectroscopy, ellipsometry and profilometry.

LPKF ProtoMat milling machine

RF & microwave laboratory

LPKF prototyping, 3D printing, VNAs up to 70 GHz, antenna and metasurface testing, EMI/EMC measurements.
